Galerie Dr. Reichel, founded by the Viennese doctor and art collector Oskar Reichel, in which exhibitions of modern young artists took place from 1920, was also known as Moderne Galerie Lorenz, Kunstsalon Lorenz or just Moderne Galerie. It was entered in the register of companies in 1921 as Galerie Dr. Reichel GesmbH, its objects being trade in art and applied art objects and antique furniture on its own account and for others. It was on the same premises as Kunst und Wohnung, R. Lorenz, of which Reichel was a partner, based at Josefstädter Straße 21 in the 8th district. The opening exhibition from March to April 1920 presented works by the Hungarian painter Lajos Tihanyi. In early 1921 the gallery showed the fourth group exhibition of the Wiener Künstlervereinigung Freie Bewegung (Vienna Free Movement Artists' Association) with over sixty drawings and prints, including works by Carry Hauser, Erich Heckel, Frieda Salvendy and Katharina Zirner. This was followed from mid-April to mid-May 1921 by an exhibition with the works of the Viennese artist Rolf Henkl. The gallery existed until 1927.
